Final decision?
Ok, judging from everyone's comments, I think the best trip would be leaving Tuesday, August 22 and returning Sunday, August 27:
• First three nights (TUES, WED, THUR) at the Klamath hostel. Cost is $20/person/night and as of a few days ago they had rooms available. The lady also said she was going to mail me more information about the hostel and the surrounding area so we can check and make sure it still sounds good when I get that.
• Drive south on FRIDAY and meet Aluma. Spend the night at either the Point Reyes or the Sausalito Hostel. WE NEED TO DECIDE WHICH ONE OF THESE WE WANT TO GO TO. Basic info is below. I also recommend that you check out the CA hostels link to learn more...
Point Reyes: beds available, $16/ night, 10 beds per dorm room
Sausalito/ Marin Headlines: beds available, $18/ night, 8 beds per dorm room
• Drive to San Francisco on SATURDAY and spend the night at one of the hostels there. Again, WE NEED TO DECIDE WHICH ONE OF THESE HOSTELS WE WANT TO STAY AT... so got to the website...
City Center: beds available, $28/night, each room has 4 beds
Downtown: $26/night, each room has 4 beds
Fisherman's Wharf: $28/night, 6-12 or 24 beds per room
So the whole thing should be SWEET! I am excited! Nature and cities and cooking good food for those who like to cook and eating that good food for those who like to eat and general merriment to be had by all. And people whose families might be going away then... tell them to not go away!
